Designer Du Jour: Rubin Singer

Mr Singer comes from some impressive fashion stock, his grandfather (for whom he was named)was a Parisian designer before WW2 and emigrated to Russia, where he became one of the Soviet Unions most celebrated couturiers and even dressed Stalin.

His father was also a successful designer and designed costumes for one of the oldest and greatest ballet companies in the world, the Bolshoi Ballet & The Stanislavsky Theater, before moving to New York and opening his own store in Manhattan in the 1980's. Rubin’s fashion debut was at the tender age of 5 when he made his first dress for his mother.

His fist major debut was made at New York Fashion week in 2007 and it was then that he first appeared on my radar. I have since kept my eye on this delectable designer (not only are his designs beautiful but the man himself is none too harsh on the eyes either).

For a look at Rubin's latest offering check out his website
Or this youtube video of his Spring Summer 09 collection at the Mercedes benz fashion week.

Until next time have a wonderful weekend and I shall be back on Wednesday to post pictures of my trip to Newcastle.

Hello! Thanks for your comments :D

Definitely a designer to look out for :) This collection of his has lots of strong bold cuts and also soft curvaceous and feminine cuts. And I love the use of stripes and polka dots. I'm not too sure about the bright blue dress though. It looks like a plastic bag, although that may be because of the lighting. But I love his flowy dresses. Beautiful and the prints are great. :D

P/s: hope you had / are having a great time in Newcastle! Great place. Not as fancy as Melbourne and we do have loads of beaches here :D
